Avery's Baby Dedication

A couple of weeks ago, we had a special worship service at Crossroads. We had an opportunity to present two baby girls to the church. One of them was Avery, the other baby was Nathalie Ann. Nathalie Ann's parents are in our Life Group, so it was very special for us to be able to share in this occasion together.
We know that babies don't actually make commitments, so this was a time for us as parents to pray for our daughters and for us to make a commitment as parents to do our best to raise them to seek after God.
It was a truly a special day and special occasion. As we come upon Thanksgiving, we know that we have so much to be thankful for. We are blessed beyond measure and we have seen God working in so many ways around us. Yet, at the top of our list this year is Avery. She has come a long way and we have no doubts that she is truly a gift from God to us.

Pictures of The Girls!

Back in August, we went to Alabama to visit Jenna's family. While we there, Jenna's Mom had a photographer take pictures of Madison, Emma, Avery, and our niece, Ann Blye.

Here are some great pictures of our beautiful girls!

Fall Festival 2009

We had a fantastic Fall Festival at our church this past Saturday evening. We had over 300 people come to the event and everyone seemed to have a great time.

We also had a great time with a mission team from Champion Forest Baptist Church. The team was wonderfully giving and helped us tremendously.

Finally, it was really great to see the people from Crossroads really jump in and make everything happen the way that it should.

Here are pictures from this past week!

A Day At The Dentist

I took Madison to the dentist earlier today. They have been trying to install an appliance to prevent her teeth from shifting. In order for that to happen, they have had to pull 4 of her teeth. They pulled the first one two weeks ago. They pulled the other three today!
She is in some pain. We stopped at Wendy's to get a Frosty on the way home, but she is still in some pain nonetheless.
I held her hand the entire time. I couldn't help but think that I better enjoy the chance to hold to her hand in these situations while I can. She is getting older fast.
Madison and I are traveling together to Houston this weekend. I am looking forward to spending some time together with just me and her.

Doctor's Visit

We just returned from taking Avery to the doctor. She has had a cough the last few days. But, last night it turned worse where she had a deep cough throughout the night. She also threw up a couple of times and a temperature of 101.3. I am pretty sure that Jenna was awake most of the night.
After we dropped Emma and Madison off at school, we drove to take Avery to her doctor in Levittown. They checked her out and concluded that she had severe croup. While we were waiting to see the doctor, they weighed her. She now weighs 16 lbs. 13 oz.
We were reminded that Avery has come a long ways. She is developing more and more. She is also beginning to resemble Emma more and more as well.
Avery regularly flashes me a big smile. It's the kind of smile where when you see it, you just have to smile back. We know that we are blessed by God to have three wonderful girls. It's goes beyond our comprehension that God has given us so much. We know that they are from Him. We also know that our time with them is going by fast. We don't want to take any of these days for granted, even a regular day at the doctor's office.

Update

I have not been updating this blog like I should. Amazingly, there are so many things that I think that I could be writing about. I just don't even know where to begin. I've had quite a bit on my mind as of late, and really should make an effort to get it out there.

Here are few things that are happening.

1. Madison had a tooth pulled earlier today and will have three more pulled next week. She was in some pain earlier, but is doing better.
2. Emma is going to the eye doctor early in the morning. She is hoping against hope that they don't put drops in her eye. That is one of her least favorite things.
3. Avery is growing and growing. She is nearly 17 lbs. and we cannot get enough of that kid.
4. Jenna has been very busy with everything that is happening with the girls, plus she just found out she is a room parent for Emma's class. She is very excited about it.
5. My Dad is in the hospital and is in quite a bit of pain. Please be praying for him.
6. God is working in amazing ways at Crossroads. I am honestly at a loss for words. The only thing that I can say is that it is God doing these things.

There is more. I know that this is all somewhat vague, but it's a start. I will try to update a little more regularly.

That's all for now.

Labor Day In The Park

We spent most of Monday at Belmont Lake State Park. We had friends and family from people at Crossroads all come together for a time to catch up on what is going on in life, as well as to eat a lot of good food. In the process, we also gave out about 200 bags containing school supply products. These items were extremely well-received and people expressed deep appreciation for the items.
Luis and I met at the park early on Monday morning to reserve an area and some tables. There were around 50-60 people who showed up, so this turned out to be a good idea. Luis had to leave to pick up some other stuff, so I was in charge of making sure that the 10 or 12 tables that we had set aside didn't go anywhere.
As I was sitting on top of one of the picnic tables, not doing anything in particular, a Korean gentlemen came up to me with a plate of pork that they had been grilling. I looked over and noticed about 20 people from his group who were making their plates and having a great time together. I told him thanks and he walked away. I had nibbled on the pork for about five minutes, when I saw him returning over to where I was sitting. This time he had a plate of cucumbers. He gave them to me and simply said, "may God bless you." Again, I told him thanks.
About five minutes later, a lady from their group motioned for me to come over. The lady shouted, "come eat Korean food with us!" It was an offer that I could not refuse. I sat down at the table and did not recognize a whole lot of what was set before me. But, I was willing to give all of it a try. They placed several different foods on my plate. They spent about five minutes with me going over how I should be holding the chop sticks. Finally, I ate. Not only did I eat, I ate a lot. Not only did I eat a lot, I really liked it. By the time Luis returned, I was fool.
After I had finished eating, we talked for a little while. I found out that every person at the table was a believer of Jesus Christ. I asked them if they all went to the same church, completely expecting that they were going to say yes.
They said no. They said that they worked together at the same business and company and gathered together on Labor Day to encourage one another.
I was again reminded that we are part of a larger church than our local congregation. The body of Christ extends far beyond borders, races, and denominations. I was genuinely encouraged by spending time with these believers. I know that God led me to them or them to me to continue to open up my eyes about the magnificence of His majesty. It is beyond me and I am glad.
